Where I Feel At Home...

Unusual?...I would agree. Pardon me for the "not so good" quality, but it is good enough for me since it's my safe-place and home away from home :) . This picture was taken in one of the rehearsal studios at the University of Johannesburg Arts Center, and at that moment all the doors were locked so I had to take my pictures through the glass on the doors. But I think I pulled it through right?...

While most people would think firstly of where they live or who they live with and those close to their hearts; I feel so at home when I'm on the dance floor. I have quite a couple of homes too (like most people) and a BIG family filling them up, and of-cause they are very much close to my heart. On the contrary, I started dancing twelve years ago when I was only eleven years old. At that time I was doing Latin and Ballroom, slow dance, hip hop dancing and freestyle. From that very moment I fell totally in love with being on the dance floor. I stopped for a couple of years during high school though, until February of this year when I auditioned for the University of Johannesburg Dance Company, and yes, I made it through. I then continued with my dancing but, I had to do Ballet and Contemporary dancing like everyone else in the company. Now, when I'm on the floor, all my worries seem to fade away. Everything else matters no more except for me, my music and my floor; and that is the reason why I feel most at home on that little space...it turns into my whole world and becomes enough for me to breath and move however I want at whatever pace I allow myself. Apart from my poetry this little room really takes away all that's brought by by the world and everything that comes with it.
